Procrastination

Procrastination

This has become a hot topic in the last year when so many of us have been working from home or using a hybrid model of working some days in the office and other days at home. Trying to combine work, home and social obligations. Often under difficult circumstances when children, pets and other distractions fill our spaces. Working from the kitchen table or the bedroom is just not a viable option for so many.

So we tend to put things off. Promise ourselves we will do the tasks, work or chores later. When there are less distractions. When there is more time. When you don’t have back-to-back Zoom or Team meetings booked.

Except, there is never really time, or a good time for the task. Once we have missed the deadline or the window of opportunity it is often so hard to recapture the motivation. Or explain how the lapse happened. Things tend to just slip away, or we become so tired and frustrated at not doing all the things we are supposed to that it becomes overwhelming.

Rather than letting things get worse, we need to recognise the problem, address the causes (not just the symptoms – like the missed project deadline or lack of engagement or enthusiasm or the inability to concentrate/focus on the work or business).

Kisco works with businesses – both small and large, government agencies and individuals on programs and plans on how to address change management and work scheduling. We look at how to reengage staff and businesses to become more productive and how to build in strategies to cope with stress and change. Also how to put in place the communication and training plans that will help address the issues and make the change management strategy plan organic to the business, employees and individuals.
